Bird

Perhaps someone can help me out here. I've got a pair of birds hanging-out in the backyard, and I'm not sure what they are. I've included a couple of pictures, although they aren't great. I think it's some kind of hawk, but I'm no expert. Any ideas?

    And to think I was about to give up on ever getting an answer. Of course, I'm not positive there were only two... perhaps they are French Hens?
